If I don’t work out, my entire day/week suffers.

For example (hypothetically speaking), "the tenant stiffed me for the rent" makes me suffer if I judge it as negative.

I take extra enjoyment writing real estate contracts on a beach somewhere in the Mediterranean  or the reverse I was on a cruise off o Italy in fall of 08 watching the BBC feed on the economic melt down our country suffered.. 

(even then it requires a decent amount of capital - more than likely I'll have to still work and my kids will be the next gen to be able to live off of the generational wealth that my family has suffered for).

& then you have these idiots....Los Angeles should penalize landlords who keep homes vacant as the city suffers a housing and homelessness crisis, several members of the Los Angeles City Council declared in a proposal unveiled Tuesday.City Councilmen Mike Bonin, Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Paul Koretz and David Ryuare asking city staffers to come back with options for an “empty homes penalty” or vacancy tax, which would likely have to go before voters for approval.

But if the tenant ends up being a dirt bag I’m not suffering through a year of crap.

We might have to cut back on our 3-6 month RV vacations, LOL, but we would not be suffering. 

The point of the article was to introduce a thought experiment to help folks who financially suffer under common misconceptions, as millions of aspiring homeowners are romantic about real estate, and spend more than they budgeted for that bigger house or bigger yard, or a chefs stove that is a total and utter SUNK COST, and then justify it by parroting that "Your home is your biggest investment" expression.

Ideally it would not involve one tenant shooting another or you suffer two vacancies.

Real Estate in Key Biscayne, one of the most expensive Islands around here, has been suffering for a few months now.
