I know many folks that started a business with just a business card, telephone, a vehicle and ambition. 

Digital gold/currency already sounds crazy as is but maybe they know something regular folks don't. 

Leaving the folks to their own devices to figure things out, with empty wallets and full credit cards.

I like that "what is easier to put a value on" I didn't think about it that way and given the amount of properties these folks probably do they'd probably take the most convenient route.

I recently watched a BiggerPockets podcast on YouTube where both folks made flood insurance mistakes from not noticing something in the disclosure.

Lots of Portland and OR folk here as well.

To simply not invest with folks who exhibit "Free Spin" syndrome, and continually buy without putting their own money where their mouth is.

All said, you will find many folks within these forums that are strong promoters of self-directed IRAs.
