I manage 8-12 unit buildings in Logan Square, Albany Parka and Irving Park, and we have had issues with porches even at that small sample size.  

The program had a very small sample size as there weren't many participants + as you mentioned, renovation/conversion costs were extremely high for landlords.For your question, an architect would be a great contact.

Once you have a substantial sample size, itemize them on a Google sheet form and compare the Price, Price per square foot, Lot size, price per bedroom, etc.
