Yes, there are loan concentrations a bank has but it's not necessarily the number of notes you signed, it's the amount of loan concentrations to one borrower.

It is easier to reach a critical mass where you can start getting better bids on services, and if you want to start turning management to a professional manager so that you can concentrate on getting more deals, you will get better pricing there, too.  

If you're going to invest here I'd suggest you concentrate on areas you know particularly areas which are lagging the re recovery.  

Real Estate by its nature will be more concentrated than stock investing.However I think the concept of putting a similar amount of money into Real Estate each year/every 6 months is probably a good one.
