I figured he had his reasons,  I didn't say anything because I didn't want to change his mind or get in trouble"Not too credible, granted, but no less credible than "I didn't realize the mistake for 11 months" and you are quite likely to find a highly amused and perhaps not too sympathetic judge, especially if small claims or housing.
