I just moved to Boone, NC, looking for a primary residence but that will also allow me to build a least one STR on the land to offset my cost of living.

There is definitely a nice demand for STR on Airbnb in Mpls, at least in my experience.

I have one SFH and one duplex in Minneapolis, all three units being used for STR on Airbnb.  

Looking back wish I did STR on it but wasn't a thing back then. 

on my 4th investment property, a STR on a lake in northern NH. 

To NOT bid on something because nobody else is would be ludicrous in my opinion.Frank is entitled to his opinion, but as a very experienced investor in many cities and states, I would stronly disagree with much of the comments.I do agree that one should complete their due diligence, know their market area, know how to calculate ARV's, and no the process very well.

@Travis Rasmussen This exactly what they do till you have the STR on your tax return.

I would love outside the box tips from any of you experienced peeps to help my listing be successful as I really want this this method (STR on rentals) to snowball into several more. 

Does anyone have experience doing STR on a subset of units in a multi-family building with primarily long-term (LT) tenants?

Financing with a STR on my books that isn’t yet on tax returns, learned many different financing models in my research.
