I don't think that a gateway product is necessarily a bad thing if it informs you about something new.

Granted you still need to figure out which markets are performing well or on the verge of but even that has become much easier via all the latest gateways.

Without knowing more it's impossible to say what the best option would be, but I wouldn't overlook using the home that you already own as your gateway to rental property investing.
