Most loans (not all), either commercial or resi, needs a warm bodied guarantor ie a physical person to say they will be responsible for the repayment of said loan.

Most other professions have a Code of Ethics that provide bright line tests for its professionals to follow and for the governing body that is responsible for the Code to censure/penalize those that cross those lines.As far as your question about "whether it's OK?". 

Is there any cert/regulatory body for inspections in CA?
