Having family from California from the early 1800's and still there, I get to see the West Coast trends and then compare them to Maryland, my home for most of my life.Maryland tends to be pretty liberal and a lot like parts of California but it has three distinct areas as politics go.I find in general that the North East from about Maryland on (Yes I know we are technically below the Mason Dixon Line <Grin>) tend to act on a inside out legislative process, city first, then county and then state.

Actually, the mother also had very limited knowledge of being a proper landlord.After the tenant complained in court more than once about being forced to discuss rental business with the daughter and not the mother with whom she signed the lease, the eviction court magistrate said in no uncertain terms that the owner of the property can designate the daughter (or anyone else she chooses, regardless of RE license) to act as her "agent" in these matters.

It probably won't pass muster if challenged legally - but you get my drift.If she tries to back off this request/question, I would tell her in no uncertain terms that her voiced intent to conduct business from the unit is a breach of lease, which will aggressively be enforced and may result in eviction proceedings.

If you are uncertain if the animal in actually a service animal you can ask for a certification but in some cases not having one doesn't disqualify it from being a service animal in the eyes if the ADA.
