Under another section, that's not really relevant, but I'm bringing up just so you can see how the court views having to pay for a displaced tenant - it says if the tenant has to go to a hotel, they won't be charged rent, but also won't get reimbursed any more than what their rent would have been for the same period.It's under another remedy, but my point is that a situation regarding a tenant ending up in a hotel is covered under Chicago law, and in that situation, the landlord only has to reimburse them what the amount of their rent would have been.But, as you can see by the law above, the law doesn't require the landlord to pay for a hotel room when it's a casualty loss, and not because of landlord neglect, etc.
