They are strategically placed around the property and they contain a substance that attracts the termites thus, causing them to leave your property alone.

I believe I know just enough to be dangerous yet I know the math to keep me out of harms way

But hey, no harm in sounding out the owner, before finalizing your end-game strategy... 

It seems the consensus is to dig out soil at the crack and the seal the outside with a tar like substance.  

In any case there's no harm in trying.

I honestly didnt know putting my last name like that would cause so much harm, i will change it.

Now if you hate your job and plan on quitting anyway, there's no harm in asking to scale back on hours or the number of days you work each week as a first step in moving full-time into real estate.
