I knew that there was a chance that I could get stuck with this house long before we put a shovel in the ground, so instead of building the usual builder 2400 sq ft bi-level or small colonial, we went BIG, a 4800 sq ft Colonial in the Greek revival theme, it's on two acres.

We found a chain-saw, a shovel, paint cans, broken shutters, pieces of a treadmill, a bicycle, landscaping debris, etc.  

I would think one need to build more complaint posts all around the existing posts strap together and add more support on flare up for added support. 

Do invest in some decent shovels.

My point is that there are a number of systems that work, however if you think that you're buying a treasure map, you will still need a shovel to dig with.

The tenant would mow the lawn and shovel the snow.

But renting for a few years seems ludicrous to me, as you'd literally be shoveling your hard-earned equity into a landlord's bank account and paying off their mortgage.

My own house had to be shoveled 20-30 times this Winter for that reason."

Nor do we ever supply a tenant with a lawn mower, chain saw or even a snow shovel!
