However, it is my understanding that she can't sell the house at a 500k discount to us as that would be considered a gift, so this would only work if the house gained 500k over the two years we inhabited it (which is wishful thinking!).

My question is: if we redeem our personal credit card points for Lowe’s / home dept gift cards to go towards supplies/materials/cabinets etc, can we deduct that as an expense even though we used a gift card vs a credit card or cash?

Just a few months ago I referred a family to a house FSBO on craigslist, I was their interpreter, homeowner did all the paperwork, family bought the house, owner texted me thanking me and sent me a handsome gift check which I was not expecting at all, It's always been my pleasure helping ppl).Thanks again.
