I have lived all over the world but my favorite as a adult was :  My Victorian Hobby farm in NY along the shores of Lake Onterio, for 14 yrs I lived happily where i raised one obnoxious precious teenage girl who is no longer with us and 3 horses, chickens, peacocks, ducks, dogs and cats. 

A very large Victorian style home turned into a 5 unit.

I purchased an 1898 Victorian in your area last year and renovated.

Purchase price: $85,000 Cash invested: $135,000 Single Family Victorian that was converted into a duplex sometime in the 1930's, we fully gutted this property and kept it as a duplex.

Purchase price: $140,000 Cash invested: $31,000 3/2 Victorian built in 1903.

Heck in San Antonio they allow for old Victorian houses to be converted to apartment buildings with as many as 8-10 apartments.

In this case however, it seems like it would be easier to install stained glass windows in the kitchen to match the custom stone backsplash, wood floors, Tiffany style light fixtures,  and overall more Victorian/gothic feel than to try and make it look 'modern'.  

It's actually a selling point for vacant land; there's always free or $1 Victorian homes available in Oakland, it's the ownership of appropriately zoned land that's scarce.

The home is an old Victorian style house in a historic part of town, but I was planning on doing a home inspection and appraisal to determine how much it should go for.I'm still new and feeling my way in this and wanted to know if anyone could recommend any particular strategy or if you knew any agents that you could recommend that would be successful.
