Lots of people also seem to be turning to MTR vs STR.....I'd look at places near medical centers....Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson...and whatever other giant medical facilities are around that cater to people that aren't always local.

As for the cheaper markets, I would look to do mid term rentals in the Rust Belt near hospitals like the Cleveland clinic to maximize the income to help mitigate the downsides and unexpected expenses associated with those markets.

I know this is historically a rough area but I have heard rumors that is is up and coming with the $$ the Cleveland Clinic is putting into their expansion.
