Friday 1/24/2010: Tenant calls at 2:21AM (leaving a lengthy voicemail) stating that there has been a domestic physical altercation, there are police at the property and the back double sliding door needs to be boarded up and replaced because it was ruined.

This guy has personally paid the price for pushing back against a police officer.

@Kash JohnsonYou might mention to the family to ask about whether family LLCs (partnerships for US tax purposes) would be an viable option, my understanding is these can be very effective for estate tax planning purposes, particularly if the descendants intend to continue staying involved in the investments.

I have to assume the owners and moderators are just unable to police it, not that they are intentionally looking the other way.

The police is actually going to do more foot patrols with the crop of new rookies, that are coming out end of February, so that the really bad spots become very uncomfortable for the drug dealers, because there'll be much more police presence. 

You could try going and making a complaint to the Police Department Desk Sargent in person (bring your lease).If a law was broken he/she may write it up and pass it up the chain, get a copy of that report.If it were me, I would plan on moving, as this is might be the tip of the iceberg.Moving into a bigger complex with a pool and dog walk, might get you a more professional management situation.Good Luck!
