I bought a property that needed work, moved in, rolled my sleeves up, and got to work ... rented it, bought another ... after doing that a few times, I learned enough to know what to look for, what to avoid, and knew enough to intelligently hire people and had the confidence knowing that I could fire them and finish the job if need be.
