Remediation is extremely expensive and is something that I don't want to do.If its something that concerns you, you might want to get an asbestos survey for older properties that you are looking to do extensive rehabbing.

Removal of these tiles can be DIY - check your local laws that regulate this; in some areas, you MUST use a certified remediator regardless, in other areas you can DIY up to certain amount of sq ft of asbestos IF it is non-friable and no respirator is required if non-friable.

If a professional determines that you do have some kind of environmental hazard (lead paint, asbestos, ...) then there can be more stringent requirements on disclosure, remediation, etc.IANAL....

My main concern is that I had a water remediation address the immediate flooding and a general contractor to start repairs on the drywall, insulation, trim/baseboards, and minimal repainting because my tenant elected to stay in the unit throughout the whole process.
