I work in data science at Freddie Mac where my team crunches a lot of mortgage data for machine learning, data mining, and data visualization. 

The credit crunch may cause some problems with small businesses and there may be closures that take some time to recover from.

In times of a cash crunch not many want new clothes or shoes.

But you still have to investigate and crunch the numbers to confirm.

I am new and I have been crunching numbers and analyzing deals as well.

No point of doing all the research, crunching the numbers, and getting it all down to an exact precise plan if she isnt even willing to even hear it out. 

Couple thoughts from one newb to another...1) Even if you're not ready to buy, keep crunching numbers and running deals in your head, on cocktail napkins, in spreadsheets & wherever else you can.

I like to crunch my own numbers. 

Your wife could definitely be more involoved with an AirBnB style setup and maybe that would get her more on board.Finally my personal comments would be to go to work finding real life examples and crunching numbers your wife can see rather than just discussing the concept with here.

But now I need some advice.Background: I have a double major in Finance and Economics so I like the numbers but I don't like crunching numbers 40 hours a week.
