My cost wont necessarily be the same or comparable as I GC my own projects and have trade skills.

For example, if the roof was "under insured", or if the ground moved below the roof support (I learned recently that  earth movement is not covered under some policies, such as those on the bluffs of Lake Michigan falling into the water).

Lower property taxes, affordable housing compared to LA (CA buyers are usually cash buyers because what they net from their smaller home in CA can get them a bigger home here, often covered by what they net from their CA sale), allergies (smog), and politics. 

They said this is an older home, and has had some minor renovations but it probably would need some form of work if comparing it to the fully reno homes in that area.

Before this marketing program took off the individual in question had carelessly left his fingerprints on a glass of water.

It’s growing fast, has good schools, and offers affordable homes compared to Houston.

I am not a sympathizer at all - I can tell you that I can count 20+ investors who told me the returns we offer are a joke compared to offerings like this one and others.

And not to mention no stock matches the dividend rate one can get in real estate with such low risk/volatility. 20yrs ownership, oh-yeah, cash-flow on renting it would be HUGE now so it's easily comparable to a 20%+ monthly dividend, if not more.

The article is off because it is comparing two different types of buyers.
