Can window glass crack from cold?
19 February 2015 | 9 replies
It would have to be quite a stress to crack a double or triple glazed modern window.Another possibility {though unlikely} is the sash has warped/pulled away from the glazing and water entered between the two ... that water has since frozen and the pressure has cracked the glazing.I'm sure it's not been as cold in Philly as we regularly experience (today is the first day warmer than 0F in a month) and the cold never makes the glass crack here ... especially in a modern thermo-pane.

Change windows?
24 March 2013 | 11 replies
On a cape we did the large front windows were the old single pane double hung.We had a company here just make two pieces of glass sealed for insulation for each opening. The glass was also tinted. Then we framed the glass inserts in with jamb extensions etc. it looked great & saved us a lot on special order prices.Another one we replaced all the windows with those we could find at a contractors excess stock depot.

sorry you're hearing crickets on this one - i think the short answer here is that flippers dont often replace windows here ( double pane windows help with noise, and security, but dont usually do much for energy savings) buyers & tenants dont really care about windows, or if they do, they wont pay extra for new windows..
