You should have updated the address in the lender portal to your physical address so you receive statements and late pay warnings.Only way this scenario happens is if you do none of these.

In the “old” days, people would have the seller pay the lender so as to not “alert” the lender that a property sale had taken place, so that the lender def wouldn’t trigger the so called “due on sale” that’s a part of almost every mortgage or deed of trust document.  

The way to get access is typically reaching out to the sponsor and getting the PPM and the documents you need to do a thorough review.
