I am an active duty Soldier about to be stationed at Ft Carson in appx 4 months and want to make the most informed investment decision I possibly can, which is why I am here to ask you all this:  What would your strategy be for investing with the information given below?

I'm a active duty soldier who is currently deployed.

When going into battle, would you rather have 1 soldier on your side or 20?

If you are happy with that number, soldier on.

Maybe it's the soldier in me but I would rather lose and learn than sit and wait on someone else to hold my hand. 

Common sense tells me that the rent should be a little bit higher in these apartments which are close to a big army post where even the lowest ranking soldiers make about $1100/mo for housing allowance.

I just sold a 1850 house that had new 200 amp service, new gas furnace, new gas hot water heater, new kitchen gutted to the studs, 2.5 baths, newly refinished hardwood floors and other updates.From the outside it looked the same as it did before the rehab.We've had other houses, one of which Civil War Soldiers marched by, and old is not necessarily bad.
