We've seen this soooo many times in our Detroit market:(Have actually had owners choose not to do business with us because their previous PMC didn't require it - so, they thought we were the incompetent ones.Have also seen incompetent PMCs wiring funds internationally to owners - and these owners not having an ITIN, EIN or SSN!

FHA gets a bad rap because sellers and many agents think it's only for people who don't have the money so if I had 20 percent, but wanted to use FHA, I would present a proof of funds with my offer showing I have more money, but am using the FHA as a financial option so I can get an investment property as well somewhere else.

I believe our contract stated that the funds did not need to remain in escrow and they could be released to the builder.
