Should I also not factor PMI in to cash expenses since it is only temporary?

Alternatively, could you fix it up and call it your temporary residence and then buy a place of equal or greater value?

Network with local Realtors who may have clients in need of temporary housing when they relocate to the area.

The HR people did each say, without me asking them, they have a frequent need for temporary housing for doctors and administrators coming in temporarily or permanently because inventory is so low for bath buying and renting homes. 

Maybe something temporary would cause that to happen.

They 'may' qualify for some hardship assistance through local or state programs but that will be temporary.
