I will be doing some extensive work and not much of the old will remain.I have several alternatives that I'm looking at radiant floor heating, electric heat pump with gas furnace, geothermal heat pump and solar panels to supplement electric or gas heat.I would welcome other ideas, thoughts, pros, cons, etc.

Either way, sheet vinyl in the kitchen and baths and all that dark paneling gets primed and painted.  

The issue is exacerbated with the leased panels over the purchased ones as well.

Open the front panel and check filter to see how it's maintained.  

Water heater had issues too, and no electrical panel in the basement, and the vent for the microwave or lack thereof would be an issue, no guard rails, ALL KINDS of issues.

The other option is Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) but that is for another thread.
