The taxed party can't decide not to pay the tax, can't decide to pay less than the pre-determined amount and can't offset responsibility of tax payment to another party, even by contractual means.

It could be 150 - 155K....The owner gets $3000 as down payment ...In an underwater situation, the seller gets NOTHING in a short sale (except under some government sponsored programs paid by taxpayers).

Frankly, I am offended that taxpayers have to pay high prices for the poor with some of the most expensive property in the city.During the foreclosure crisis, when the entire project was hurting, I was looking at a very small unit facing the street for close to 300k.

At the end of the day, said entity will profit by having the loans they picked up at a discount refinanced by a govt insured agency (FHA, Fannie, etc) and dumped back onto the shoulders of the taxpayer.
