I'm researching the solo 401k. What I'm curious to know is do contributions made to this account bypass self-employment taxes and/or payroll taxes or do these taxes get paid regardless? Your input is appreciated!

I'm more confident in my ability to manage the property manager, per se.

All ACTIVE income from a partnership is subject to SE tax (rental income is not active and is therefore not subject to SE tax).

ThanksIf you made more than $40k, you might be able to avoid SE on anything above that with S-Corp.

Just my $0.02 but I recommend staying away from SE Raleigh, Capital Blvd and most of Durham (except the southern portion). 

When I began looking for an agent in SE CT it was immediately clear that some of the agents were excited and positive about the area we're living in.  

Things down here seem to move at a more ...relaxed pace, haha.Retirement areas can be found all around, though Sun City (NW of Phoenix) and Sun Lakes (SE of Phoenix) stand out in my mind.
