If you do not have 300k income you are not even allowed to participate at Accredited-Investor only Investment.It's just matter of time until the authority comes and investigate more private investment that involves public/investors money.I am also involved in certain clawback litigation against previous quite-famous-syndication that was under SEC receivership now.It's fun to watch how the GP has to sold all their Rolex watches to bring back the money back to investor.

Once I gave in and bought a few only to not have assistance and no clear direction so frustration took over and I was still learning but needed direction, I finally found a group of investors to help me,  guide me,  and teach me the ins and outs of the industry.If I am not working deals learning the ropes or watching videos for extra information in real estate investing you can find me at my full time career as a Auto Injury Claims Specialist with big red.

What should I watch out for, and is there a significant advantage to choosing an EA over a CPA?

One thing to watch out for... it is a tax, but not an income tax (so it applies to Roth accounts as well). 

Either buy what you can afford, or stay out of the game till you can afford it.Anyone involved in trainings, mentorships etc on any topic, anywhere, my advice to you is PRESS IN, get closer to your group, sit at the feet of the 'masters' so to speak...then watch what happens to your knowledge, and your business.
