I'm an active duty military member, currently stationed at Fort Benning, GA.

I'm from Marion, Ohio but I am currently stationed (Air Force) in Aomori, Japan. 

He planned on being stationed back in the area but those plans changed recently and so he and I have spoken a bit about the sale already.

It depends on a lot of factors:If you are enlisting in the military, your salary will be quite low for the first few years as an E-1, E-2 , E-3  - which can make buying a home or investment property somewhat difficult.Depending on which branch of the military, and which career path you intend to pursue, you may only be at your duty stations for a few months to a couple of years, especially early on when you are vying to get into training for your occupational specialty.

A new huge hospital was built just blocks away, new developments with commercial buildings and gas stations around the corner, other multifamily properties have sold 500K+), duplexes have sold 300K+, and also just a few streets over there have been some higher end condos built and sold.
