If the crew told you it was because of moisture from poor ventilation in the attic then why did you tell them to repaint it? 

Repainting the exterior, decking, fences, flooring, etc.  

Some of these may be repair items, others are Capex, but it all falls under similar work, in my eyes, i.e. paint will always be a "repair" from an accounting standpoint, but there are the turnovers where I can just touch up spots, and then every 5 years or so, I need a full interior repaint to bring the color scheme back to modern aesthetics.  

If you’re repainting anyway, it’s an extra day for the painter to patch the holes anyway.

The repairs were very minimal re-painted the exterior and finished trimming and painting the inside.

The previous tenants had a dog and a cat in the house, but upon their vacating the premises, the home was thoroughly cleaned by myself and then a cleaning service, most walls were repainted, wood floors were re-sealed with polyurethane, vents were vacuumed and furnace filter was changed.

I already re-did the kitchen for around $7k as well as added new rugs/carpet in the bedrooms and repainted.

Wanted to buy an investment home in the keys so we use it for several weeks every time a renter moved out while repairing/repainting.

Wet sand the wood on the windows and repaint.
