No carpet unless the ground is uneven like a garage conversion or addition with poor foundation, if carpet get a thick pad.

I use sheet vinyl (remnants from a local flooring store) for bathrooms, and carpet from on the roll at Home Depot for carpet (but Pad usually from a carpet supplier - waaaay cheaper.)
