Blake Williams Alternate uses for a basement?
14 December 2015 | 4 replies
@Blake Williams, Ed has certainly given you much to consider... that said, to elaborate on converting the basement to an apartment of sorts (re: window sizes), sleeping rooms are required to have a means of egress (i.e.,  a window or door directly to the exterior that meets certain size requirements)... not all the windows in the basement need to meet this criteria though and if the conversion is to a studio/efficiency type apartment (i.e., there is no separate sleeping room), the door you mentioned may very well meet the requirement.Depending on the codes in your area, you may also have to incorporate some level of fire separation between the apartment and the floor above.I encourage you to contact the building department and discuss your options with them... they may very well have some suggestions too.Good luck!

Rodney Williams Using a Proxy Bidder at Foreclosure Sales

He divides his billing among the number of parties he is representing, so if he sits there for an hour, and has ten parties, each pays 1/10 of his hourly rate. When he is involved in bidding, he is given a maximum not to exceed dollar amount by the potential buyer, and he diligently writes down the amounts bid by all competing bidders and himself to establish that he bid as instructed (his CYA IMO).I didn't get into how the payment of the bids gets handled (attorneys are alowed to write a check from their bank account, whereas non-attorneys require cash or certified checks), so I can't elaborate on that.
