Compared to Dallas, Houston has slightly better quality/variety of restaurants, museums, parks, and performing arts.

We picked up gently uses but nice furniture, generic art to hang, kitchenware, and pretty much anything a home would need to live in.

Long term I would suggest "The Richest man in Babylon," How Win Friends and Influence People," "The Art of War," "The 4-Hour Work Week" and almost anything by Napoleon Hill.
