As @Jonathan Greene mentioned this is kind of a dated strategy in the new price/interest rate environment.

I would see what kind of building you'd like to get into.

I use problems like this to go an check out the problem and then the entire property while I'm there, looking for other problems, but also assessing HOW the tenant is taking care of the property.  

If the IRA is not a Roth, I'd convert it to a Roth, but check with a CPA on how to treat the property in the Roth.

Check the Association & Rental Restrictions•If the property is in a condo association, verify whether there are rental restrictions (e.g., one-year ownership before renting, minimum lease terms, or rental caps in the community).
