So I covered all the reasons and received a letter from them after they had returned to Japan and it said they had decided to have each side pay their own agent separate from the sales price based on what I said, and because their lenders were more astute, to them it was just like each having their own attorney.

All with no money out of pocket..in the mid 90's when export to Japan was really hot.. an exporter would pre pay for logs.If you could talk the land owner into selling you a timber deed.. the mill would put up 100% of the money..

This has less to do with effectiveness of remote work in general, and more with outdated practices for hiring and motivating the right employees who will be successful in that kind environment.Also, a new generation or two of workers that are brought up in an environment where tele-commuting is a real and viable option, will approach it differently than someone who was office-bound for the first few decades of their career - suddenly getting the option to work from home makes if difficult to resist the urge to party til the music stops, as it were.Having lived both in a small town in France, as well as in Tokyo, Japan, I can attest to the fact that cities both large and small can be made extremely livable.

@Chris Winterhalter I'm not a fan of deflation, as the article points out we in the US have not seen deflation since 1930.I'm also not a fan of QE, though central bankers in Europe, China, and Japan as well as US still are strong believers.
