They have refused to give me a closing date (until recently), and stalled on everything.I ran this past my real estate agent, and he explained that many builders/mortgage companies (they are both the same group, in my case) have been trying to make the process as difficult as possible so buyers will “walk” from the deal and allow the builder to reap huge profits when they sell to another buyer (because the market has gone up since we signed—our house is now worth about $65-85K more than we will pay for it).

No discharging it through BK, none of this long term "stalling" to pay it off, I've seen some numbers that suggest that Drs and Attorneys are really bad about this.Heck if the student spent a couple of less spring break on Padre Island, or Daytona Beach and worked instead, maybe they could keep the debt lower.

I sold the house on 1 acre to a couple buying their first home, 2 acres on one side to the family that owned the property on one side and wanted to expand their property for horses, and the remaining land to a gentleman that just moved to the area that wanted to build.
