Ashlee, good question as this has legal and ethical flavors to it. 

His restaurant is very delicious, the ambiance is beautiful, but his success is less than stellar because he feels his lack of liquor license is a problem.

Just want to get a flavor of what I should expect.

We always give special treatment to them, as in a bottle of wine, maybe some delicious food, flowers, etc.

If you can spare the time I've also found that watching/listening to the webinars that the sites usually produce on each deal is worthwhile in order to get a flavor for the sponsor in person (so to speak) and see how he/she fields questions from potential investors.
