If the deal goes through, the listing agent will get paid regardless (likely even getting paid for both sides if you don't have an agent), thus defeating the purpose of negotiating directly with the owner.With that being said, 270 days is an insanely long time to be on the market, so there's always the chance that the listing agreement will expire, sometime in the near future..
