I wouldn't make a blog your company website, but you can certainly use Wordpress and a cool theme to develop a website and have a page dedicated to updates/posts.

I'm seeing the common theme of high taxes.

As an investor, I am looking for hidden value in terms of unseen equity or potential income streams.The original theme of this thread was about getting into the market at these low unemployment rates was dangerous. 

I think STR's work well for 'destination points' or theme-based venues.

given your stated goal of passive cash flow I think you have much better options then trying to turn a house into a renter when you never purchased it with that intention backwards justifying accidental landlording seems like a pretty common theme around here so your in good company
