That said- if I was doing the [email protected] I doubt anyone would care much what I have to say or how quickly I respond.

The respondent's perspective is that while the 1% rule can be a starting point, it's not the only factor to consider.

Depending on where you live having a home firearm might literally be your only line of defense, since you have the disadvantage of being a fixed target, not knowing the mind of the potential assailant, and possibly being very far from police or other responders.

I responded to your DM, but it's basically what @Chris Seveney said.

You cant respond to a financial problem with an emotional solution.

Personally, I'm currently using Hospitable, which can automate a lot of the communications (even detecting and responding to a lot of questions).
