I didn't get a second opinion on the mini-splits (I probably should have).The primary source of heat is actually radiant though, the previous owner replaced the boiler about 3 years ago, there was no way I could rip that shiny new boiler out lolThe updated panel has 100 amp service (from previous owner), and will be upgraded to 150 amp in the next couple of weeks.

I'm all about the efficiency and long-term operating costs :) I'm interested in your plans for envelope construction (SIPs, off-set framing, boring old 2x6 stick-built); heating system (in-floor radiant heat, forced/central air, electric, gas, etc); domestic hot-water (solar thermal, heat-pump, etc); electrical (any thoughts to photovoltaic?).

You can always tell the older homes by the diamond pattern in the concrete blocks from 1910-1930.2.Gas forced air heat Gas is common here, but some houses have baseboard heat or a few have radiant.
