Maybe I am a bit biased because I am most comfortable in the suburbs and am not one for city-living, so take this with a grain of salt...I am studying to be a physician and have trained at Niagara Memorial Hospital and I would get into this city and out as quickly as possible.

I think the right thing to do will be to do more due diligence i.e. to spend time with ppl in local REI , read real estate books and see if this is a good fit for me given my career as an aspiring physician( which means I might have to move in a year or two out of state to finish my training) .
