As long as you're prepared to be a landlord and live next to your tenant for at least a year, house hacking is a great way to get started.

They have already called a real estate agent to list on the MLS and when the agent comes over to take the listing, they tell the prospective seller that the dog poop in the living room has got to go.The rot in the bathroom behind the toilet needs to be fixed.

Add to that there is currently a ban on foreign buyers in Canada (only a few exceptions and as far as I know they all involve living here).Capital gains taxes apparently used to be higher (before my time). 

But today, my husband and I live comfortably, and we’ve traveled to 20 countries over the past few years.I’ve been listening to BiggerPockets since 2013 and was even featured on the Rookie podcast.
