We typically don't rent a car so usually walk a lot or take cabs or shared transportation. 

The property tax spikes can be reduced by cutting services such as schools, community colleges, public universities, police, parks, public transportation, etc. and other amenities that make Chicago a wonderful place to live.  

A single km in a typical German city can be a considerable difference depending on the transport routes.Cities are very dense, and many people rely on public transport.  

Theoretically, they could be transported...but with as much floor-to-ceiling glass that will be in it, it would be risky.

If one want's a safer place to play in that arena I'd suggest to follow the Oracle of Omaha and look into the transportation leg of O&G, more volume = more transport = more revenue = more profits.  100% correct, but wasn't expecting someone on an REI forum to come at energy like this.

Many PadSplit residents rely on public transportation, so being close to bus stops, transits, and other forms of public transport is vital when identifying deals, at least here in Atlanta. 

But our back yard is not enclosed and joins other property as the tennis courts are behind our townhouse.

My main concern in today's real estate market is the potential impact of changing transportation infrastructure, such as subway expansions or changes, on property values.
