I think we can do better than that, not least because the bank tried screwing us royally 6 months ago on a car loan - we got much better interest and terms elsewhere.

Hey y'all, these past couple months have been really crazy, with inflation being so high, the Canadian bank is likely to mimic the U.S 75 basis point rate hike, meaning that mortgage rates will probably go up and home prices will begin to slow down or even go down.

I know there are additional taxes but I saw one person mentioned that you can get a foreign tax credit from the canadian government which can offset the cost.

This doesn't mean I do better it is just a preference.Owning rentals in Portland OR has me kind of sideways on the whole idea but think a PM could screw things up royally so trust is even less in this environment.

Looking into this option currently.Option 2: cash out refiCash out equity and change the loan to a 30 year mortgage, which would decrease the mortgage significantly and increase cash flow each month.I don't know the Canadian tax issues with the cash out refi.

I'm also Canadian looking at investing in the U.S. market, so I do see some value in their experience in how to do that, and used to dealing with PMs etc.
