You have to pay ordinary income taxes eventually when you withdraw but it makes a lot of sense until then in some markets.

remains to be seen if seattle is "tanking" (roughly flat last year)  -  and downtown core prices may well be astronomical,  and the whole area is expensive,   but it is a west coast urban market nothing out of ordinary given that.
