My greatest question is why does, say a Jiffy Lube mechanic, believe after reading A book (ok, let's be honest, the back cover summary of the book) and with that "depth of knowledge" is now an expert in all things real estate, economics etc??

They do an in depth inspection of the property (which isnt cheap, but gets discounted from total if you use them) and spend about a day at the property then offer you 3 or 4 options with specific pricing that is binding for them so they can't upcharge you dyring the job unless you ask for additional work.I liked that method because I have heard alot of stories of contractors giving quotes for K&T based on a brief look at the property, but then run into surprises throughout the job and have to upcharge.
