After doing more research, I have learned some things.1) It is very, very difficult to obtain financing for properties in Mexico; even more-so as a "non-resident."2) As a newbie to REI, it's probably unwise for me to start my investing experience offshore.3) It's probably better to explore a foreign country on my own before committing fully to it.Thus, I have formulated a plan which I think will work for me.

What my investors have done is place their capital in an offshore company which then operates in the US as a foreign company.

I hire offshore assistants to manage my STR properties at a fraction of the cost you’re quoting.

Either self-manage like many on here do, or hire an inexpensive offshore PM who works US hours & speaks eloquent English.

We have resources to answer inquiries, local people to do in person check in and more, dedicated cleaners, off duty police officers to handle noise complaints, and am hiring offshore resources to better monitor noise meters and cameras.

I have my team of offshore PMs verify ages bc I have really nice houses and I’m not gonna risk some college age kids messing them up.

Other possible projects on the horizon like increasing the size of the offshore wind farm have been proposed, which would also add high paying jobs and demand for properties.Value is is already gone in most of the nicer parts of New England.

For bank financing you're out of luck because you have to be a resident to have off-shore income taken into account for your credit-worthiness.
