They put their customers in bad predicament because they know that in the end of the day, they, the predators, would not have to pay for the default, because it either insured by AIG or sold to some European bank who believed that real estate prices in America can only go up.

But I have noticed throughout the world that voters don't actually vote in favor of free markets so democracies seem doomed to move in a socialist direction, as is happening here now.Interestingly, I was recently looking at per capita GDP data for Europe and found that the more socialist Northern European countries are actually richer than the better-known countries of Europe.

On the other hand, many Asian and some European central bankers felt that you should consider both consumer prices and asset prices in deciding whether inflation is getting out of control.I actually think that Greenspan was foolish to look only at consumer price inflation in setting interest rates.

In the area I invest (and I suspect most major city's) there is sort of a "buffer" of neighborhoods between the war zone and the upper scale/middle class suburbs.Some folks call these areas "working class" neighborhoods.
